Project Description

The historic "East Coast Freight" building circa 1940, is located in the revitalized 'Scott's Addition' neighborhood in mid-town Richmond, Virginia.  Originally designed as a "modern-style" warehouse and office building, it was redesigned by Thomas Hamilton & Associates with an interior and exterior facelift. The building has been transformed into flexible office suites utilizing natural light while also maintaining the building's historical integrity. The building features multi-level workspaces and an adapitive use of the loading dock allowing for natural lighting to pour into the space.  Exposed wooden structural members combined with storefront systems and accent wood cladding give the space a warmth and nod to it's both industrial and mid-century modern heritage.
